Discovery Day for Dad

We ventured out to the Bay Area Discovery Museum in Sausalito on Dad's day. Surrounded by strollers, diapers, sippy cups and shoulder riders, our family (of 4 now!) fit right in with the population of "Ready, Set, Go" event-goers. The museum exhibit theme provided legos for Eric and Pi to build cars and race them downhill on a track.

Nana helped us learn how to juggle 2 children during a family outing. Any parent who tells you that learning to balance two babies (one per parent) during a family outing is "no biggie" clearly parented 12 children in a past life. For us, it is quite exciting, new, and terrifying compared to our normal 2:1 parent to child ratio! Thank goodness Evan enjoys being worn in the sling. This allows for hands free parenting of Piper while little one just rides along as if he were enjoying a fourth trimester womb-like with mama again...

This week Piper's new favorite game is to politely ask whoever is wearing or holding baby for "ups" ("ups" is not only dependable package delivery company, but a toddler's request to be picked-up). So, since neither of us have sherpa training, we usually pass off Evan to each other and pick Piper up (since she asked sooooo nicely.) Only, then the game progresses to requesting "down pease" (as if we were elevator operators!) and she then promptly goes to the parent holding Evan and the game starts over - "ups pease!" Musical parenting, a journey through self-sacrifice in order to keep a baby happy, safe, and secure - there really should be an olympic sport modeled after such a discipline. Of course, baby tossing would disqualify you...

Trying Again

Not for another baby! Evan is 1 month old today and since we really enjoyed "blogging" and posting pics with this format when Pi was born, we thought we'd try to "blog" once again! Visit this site often and see new pics of the pee wees as well as blah-blah-blahs about our babes.

Piper and Evan epitomize the reason rockers get hooked on fast times and surfers never turn their backs on the ocean... Every single second spent with these two feeds some sort of kiddie addiction we seem to be vexed with in our household. Elements of child-rearing seem to fuse together, forming a purely satisfying experience involving love, love, and when all else fails- a little more love. Chasing, hugging, and smooching these two little piggy banks in diapers results in an instant rebate equal to about a zillion times our initial emotional investment, currancy being little smirks, smiles, and even spills...

This summer should prove relaxing as we spend a lot of time cooling off in the ocean and perpetually re-building sandcastles...And as for the dog? He couldn't be happier with the new installment of second child 4.0. After all, there will soon be one more "friend" launching many a new treat from his highchair!!
